Biography
Roshan Bhandari is a visual artist, curator, and art educator based in Kathmandu. He completed his Bachelor’s in Fine Arts (Painting) from Bharati Vidyapeeth’s College of Arts, Pune University, India, under the ICCR Scholarship, and earned his Master’s in Fine Arts from Tribhuvan University.
His artistic practice explores myths, cultural stories, Nepali folklore, and the everyday life of rural Nepal, reinterpreting traditional narratives through a contemporary visual language. Earlier, his works focused on silence, contemplation, and inner emotional landscapes. Through painting, he seeks to preserve and revive oral traditions, cultural memory, and the lived experiences of Nepali communities.
Bhandari has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Nepal, India, Bangladesh, and Italy, and has received several prestigious awards, including First Prize in Contemporary Painting from the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, Hem-Ganga Pratibha Yuva Puraskaar by CAAN, and Third Prize in Cartooning from The Indian Express Competition, Pune.
Alongside his artistic career, he has worked extensively as an educator, curator, and cultural manager. From 2013 to 2024, he served as Vice Principal and Lecturer at Sirjana College of Fine Arts. In 2025, he became Art & Culture Manager at Unnati Cultural Village under the Chaudhary Foundation and also worked as a curator for the India Art Fair. He is currently associated with several Nepali galleries as an artist, curator, and consultant, including Annapurna Art.
